Birth Course — Live Online (with Specialist Component)

When you decide to become an Abuela doula, you will be encouraged to reach back into your cultural heritage to bring forward the traditions of your mothers and your mothers’ mothers. The role of a doula is to support and to be with women as they travel through pregnancy, birth and those early postnatal days. To sit in and share the wisdom of the Abuelas, the grandmothers.

Who this is for  


Aspiring or newer birthworkers who want a strong, justice-rooted foundation without travelling. Practising doulas who want to deepen advocacy and postnatal support in a brave, anti-racist space. Anyone who values confidence that’s real (quiet, steady, effective), not performative.


What you’ll learn (the spine)


  • Role, scope, ethics — boundaries, consent, safeguarding, documentation. 
  •  Physiology & comfort — positions, breath, warmth, across cultures without stereotyping. 
  •  Advocacy with — informed choice, calm escalation, scripts that steady the room. 
  •  Postnatal realities — feeding foundations, signposting, family systems. 
  •  Loss & debriefing — language that holds grief and beauty; vicarious trauma hygiene. 
  •  Business with heart — enquiry to onboarding; pricing with integrity; first 90 days.


Course format & dates


Live online cohort: six evenings, ≈2.5 hrs each. 

When: 12, 13, 19, 20, 26 & 27 January 2026 Online 6pm - 8.30pm 

Practice pods: triads (doula/client/witness) with witness notes.  

Online specialist component: live guest masterclasses; recordings where possible.
